Aislinn, too
Catch up on this past week:
Went home for Leif's birthday (see below), and had a pretty good week. I slept a lot, I went to Disney Quest (horrah!), spent $30 on tea, and saved a baby shark. I'm not lying, I saved a baby shark.
I went to the beach yesterday and I was just watching the waves when this little shark washed up. I watched it for a minute hoping it would go back in, but it didn't, and I started panicking, so I walked up to the dunes and grabbed a bottle (covered in barnacles) and a piece of driftwood, and returned to the tiny thing- maybe a foot and a half long- and started to roll him back to the water. Everytime we got close a ways out, the waves would wash him back up. I looked down the beach and the only other person around was a fisherman quite a ways off (who would likely think me crazy), so I ran to the parking lot and hopped in my car and drove to the guard shack, where there was, of course, no guard. I sat there for a minute hoping one would come back, and called David who, the voice of reason said "don't you have a yoga mat in your trunk?" Ah-ha....
U-turned at NASA and went back, parked, sprinted to the spot I'd been at and.... no shark. I am choosing to believe that I had pushed it sufficiently far out and it did manage to get back out to sea.
Doing more research, I've found that the pup was a spinner shark, which are pretty neat as far as sharks go, and this is about the time of year spinners reproduce along the Florida coast....
I realize ten people have been bitten in New Smyrna this past week, but damnit, go ecosystem!
Also, I really need to start carrying my pocket camera more often. Not that I could make this shit up if I tried.
Lastly, I bought honey from an old man on the side of the highway, and it is delicious.
Also, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a good movie.
Fin.

When you're 6'7", how high is the scaffold?
I am one day from popsicles, paint, and swimming pools. One day from digging my fingers into the dirt. I am tired of reading about Nazis and children's eyes injected with chemicals.

Summer reading list.
I've been getting excited about the end of next week, because it means reading things I want to read and watching things I want to watch, and maybe drawing, and certainly lots of photographing. Right now my list of books includes The Autograph Man (Zadie Smith), Kafka on the Shore, The English Patient, Shake Hands With the Devil, The Rape of Nanking, and Starting from San Francisco. I'm always open to suggestions.
Furthermore, I'm determined to make good of my netflix account. Right now we have Brothers of the Head, Ed Wood, The Darjeeling Limited, The Pianist (I've never seen it), The Piano (David always thinks I'm making this one up), Annie Hall, Delicatessen, CSA, Taxi Driver, There Will Be Blood, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Lars and the Real Girl, Capote, 3:10 to Yuma, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Fur, and the old Funny Games.
Also, I'd like to try new recipes. Maybe a chutney.
Basically, this is me asking for your recommendations of every variety.

Trash Art
David found this canvas in the trash. It's huge (Four feet by four feet), and signed on the back. I don't like it too much, so I'm thinking of painting over it. That's not awful of me is it? I may have made it look cooler than it is because I played with the contrast and saturation in the upload (just because the room in which I took the photo was so dim).
Edit: I just realized that I forgot to rotate the image, but I decided not to fix it- do paintings like these have a proper orientation anyway?
